For the individual lazer projects, we had to cut and engrave a notebook cover, engrave a water bottle, and cut a 3D object out of cardboard.
For the notebook, I wanted to make something football related because I wanted it to take notes in while watching film. For the water bottle I wanted to make something based on the game series Super Smash Brothers. For the 3D object, I found a cool design on thingiverse and decided to use it.
After I had the notebook covers cut out, I had to cut out the holes for the top. For the water bottle, I had to put in the rotational jig and put the water bottle in the rotational jig for it to engrave on both sides. For the 3D object, I had to assemble the parts to fit in the proper way for it to stand on its own and make use of the axle in it.
What I learned from this rotation was how use more tools in the lab. I learned how to use the rotational jig for the lazer. I also learned how to use the press for cutting the holes in the notebook. I also learned how to assemble a design like the design I used for my 3D object. I also learned illustrator much better than I ended up doing with the vinyl projects.
