For the CNC Router we had to make a maze. The maze had to fit within 8.5 x 11 and have channels that are 5/16 in wide and 1/4 in deep. Within inventor I made a rectangle that fit within the dimensions, extruded it to the height of the maze, and just started drawing lines that made up channels. After I had the lines, I extruded them back into the object to make the channels.
After I had everything set up within inventor, I had to upload the file to fusion 360. Then within fusion 360, I had to add the 2D contour. For the 2D contour, I had to select all the edges of the channels and the edge of the maze itself. Then I had to save it as forest scientific G code.
After I had the maze saved as G code, I had to run it through the mill. To set up the foam in the mill I had to put double sided tape on the four corners and on the middle. Then, I lined up the drill bit with the center of the foam and get it cut out.
After getting it cut out I had to lazer engrave my name into it.
What I learned from this project is how to use Fusion 360. I learned how to set up the router. I also learned how to cut foam to make cool things. I also learned how to vector engrave on foam. Overall, I learned about fusion 360 and other softwares I already knew about.
